Electric Potential is the difference in electrical charge between two points in
a circuit expressed in volts. This
is used to show the affect of an electric field of a source that is represented
in terms of the location within the electric field. A test charge with twice
the amount of charge would compose twice the amount potential energy at a
location even though electric potential at that specific location would be the
same as any other test charge. Test charges that are positive would hold a high
electric potential only near a source charge that is positive. That
positive test charge would show a low electric potential when held further away
from the positive source charge. The work done in moving a unit charge from one
point to another is equal to the difference in potential energies at each
point.
